The walk to Grótta lighthouse is one of the most rewarding short hikes in the capital area. At low tide you can cross to the island where the lighthouse stands, surrounded by a nature reserve that's home to dozens of bird species. In winter, it's one of the best spots in Reykjavík to see the Northern Lights.
